Untold Dawn's First Days Are Here!

It has been four full days since we opened Untold Dawn for early access play. Let's review how things are going in several lights year away from Sol!

The pre-alpha opening of Untold Dawn has been a wonderful success, and we are incredibly grateful to all the players, testers, and staff who have helped us reach this milestone.

Untold Dawn launched as an invitation-only, early access, pre-alpha game, and since then, we've seen peaks of 22 players and around 50 unique accounts trying out the game. When we initially drafted plans for the pre-alpha, we couldn't have anticipated how things would unfold, but we're thrilled to say we are well on our way to matching our best-case scenario. Players are enjoying the world of Untold Dawn, the staff is relishing the opportunity to run game plots, and the game itself has been quite stable. Of course, there are still many improvements to be made and a long journey ahead, but the foundation is solid, and we are excited to build upon it.

If you haven't tried out the game yet, check out our Play Now section above. You can join any time! We have a 'story' command that will help you be up to date with everything that has happened so far.

This blog post, however, isn't just about celebrating our progress—it's about the ways that you, the player, can help Untold Dawn thrive in its early days.

The Power of Community

As a roleplay game, Untold Dawn relies heavily on the community. We can have the most amazing code, but without engaged players, without riveting characters that drive the story and connect with others, and without a safe, collaborative environment for roleplay, the game won't succeed.

With that in mind, we wanted to compile a few ways you can help us shape the future of Untold Dawn, so that it becomes the roleplay-intensive game of choice for many more players:

1. Roleplay with Others

Form meaningful relationships in the game by collaborating on shared goals, forming alliances, and developing rivalries that enrich the story.

Rather than exclude others, include them in your roleplay. If it is within your interest, run events or plots that can range from small, spontaneous scenes to larger, player-driven story arcs.

The staff of Untold Dawn is eager to support player-run events and in-game plans. Engaging with others also means encouraging quieter players to get involved, helping newcomers, or even creating moments of tension that lead to meaningful character growth.

For example, you could organize a group expedition into uncharted territories, create an impromptu market day where characters barter and exchange goods, or develop an ongoing mystery that involves multiple characters.

Your creativity is what will make Untold Dawn truly come alive.

2. Spread the Word

Consider leaving a review on Reddit, recommending us to your friends, or sharing your experiences with others who may be interested.

While we remain an invitation-only early access game, word of mouth and your recommendations are crucial to helping more people discover this experience.

The developers can talk all they want about what the game is, but another player sharing their thoughts remains the best reason to try a game.

Your voice is invaluable to us.

3. Provide Feedback

We need your input to keep improving. Post feedback and bug reports here: Untold Dawn Forums.

As a pre-alpha game, nothing is set in stone and everything is subject to change. We want to develop the game alongside our community, as we have throughout this year.

Your feedback will help us prioritize features, identify issues, and continue creating an experience that everyone can enjoy.

4. Support Us on Patreon

If you enjoy what we're building and want to contribute, consider donating: Untold Dawn Patreon.

We would love to hear ideas on how we can benefit our patrons without implementing pay-to-win features.

Our Vision for Untold Dawn

Together, we can continue to shape Untold Dawn into an immersive and engaging experience.

Untold Dawn is not here to be just another RPI. We want to break from the mold and provide a roleplay experience fit for old and new fans alike. We firmly believe that we have the foundation and the ability to revitalize the RPI MUD genre and bring renewed interest to it.

While most of our marketing work to expand into other markets will take place as we approach beta and the full launch, our groundwork begins now.

Before we defined the setting as a frontier space game, before we wrote the first line of code, and before we announced this project, the first conversation we had was about not wanting to see our favorite genre fade away—we had to do something about it.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey so far!
