Feature Update (v0.1.22)
This week, we have our last regular update, because the next weeks' blog post will be focusing on the development for the first expansion (and the launch of the pre-alpha).
Flee
The combat system as it stands is quite a placeholder; it is there to be tested on pre-alpha, but in no way finished nor even glimpsing at the features we want it to have. As such, we have implemented a simple flee command; it will work all of the time for now, useful in bugs or in situations where the character doesn't really want to engage in combat. Eventually, this flee will be combined with rolls, when we're confident the balance is good enough to sacrifice characters.
Monitoring Objects
For staffing, it's important to be able to monitor objects (rooms, NPCs, PCs, etc), to see what is going on around them. We have made a monitor command which is quite intuitive to use:
You can also easily monitor objects by writing their ID like this:
And obviously, you can also quickly wipe clean your monitor list with 'unmonitor all':
When you are monittoring, the input the other party receives will show like this:
You can also monitor rooms and you will get a scroll of the last emotes in the area (if another staffer hasn't monitored it before).
Banning IPs
We have finally implemented a way to ban IPs from the game. This needed us to make global settings persist through the database, which we have done.
Here is the screen you will find if you are banned:
We can provide a write-up here, which should include the reason and if they have conditions to be unbanned how to apply for such a thing.
Characters Management
We have implemented tooling to be able to view all the characters (NPCs or PCs) in game, either with a connected account or without one.
For this, we had to implement a table styling library which will let us do things like this:
What's Next?
We have recently announced the first expansion for Untold Dawn which will cap version 0.2 - "Your Story":
This will lead our development from now until the 5th of October, which is the day we will open our doors for pre-alpha release.
